What are Blogs?

Blogs have become a very important tool for online companies in more ways than one. But first, let's start with the “What is a blog?” question. A blog was once known for just being a frequently updated online personal diary or journal for the writer to write whatever seemed to be going through his or her mind at the time. Nowadays, a blog is used by not only these people but for businesses too! People now use them just like we do to advertise the latest news and products. Or use them to help readers with a particular topic, which is what we are doing right now for you today!

So why do blogs work well for businesses? Here are a few reasons why:

- It helps drive traffic to your website: Everyone wants more people to know that their website exists. So how does a blog drive traffic? Your website probably does not have many pages. Well, every time you make a post, it creates a new indexed page on your website. Which provides you one more opportunity to show up on search engines such as Google. It is also great for social media. Every time you create a post, you are creating content for readers to share on social networks which once again gives you the chance to gain exposure.

- Helps convert traffic into leads: With the traffic that you have started to establish, it's time to convert traffic to leads. Adding lead-generating call-to-actions to your post such as a free eBook, downloads, trials for the reader to willingly exchange their information for this content is a great form of business.

- Establishing authority: If you constantly create content that is relevant to your business or for what your target audience would want, your readers will trust and respect your business. This will make you out to be the authority figure to the reader, allowing them to feel like they can ask or rely on your opinion and feedback.

- Drives long-term results: Even after a week of having your blog up online, you have reached a certain mark of views and leads, however, it has died down. Don’t worry, the page through search engines is still very good and can possibly remain in Google searches for weeks, months, even years. Meaning you can gain long term benefits and gain new exposure and customers for a long time.

Lastly, the big question, “What do you write about?”. This is absolutely up to you. However, iSolutions Technology would recommend that you write blogs around certain topics that can are of course relevant to your business, to your customers and target audience. No one wants to read something that isn’t relevant to what they are searching for. So keep it within your field. But, be as creative and interesting as possible.
